The new Tolleson High School embodies a transformative vision for public education, where architecture actively nurtures curiosity, collaboration, and community. Our design achieves a student-centered learning environment by replacing traditional hallways with dynamic collaboration zones and integrating outdoor learning through amphitheaters and courtyards. Classrooms have access to shared collaborations spaces, fostering interdisciplinary engagement and real-world problem-solving.

Tolleson is a tight-knit, multigenerational community celebrated for its local festivals, vibrant arts, and strong civic values. Here, schools serve as more than academic spaces; they are also centers of cultural life, family engagement, and intergenerational pride. This new high school will become a prominent community anchor, reflecting Tolleson’s values and welcoming students from both established neighborhoods and new residential growth areas. The “confluence of currents” concept – where outdoor streams symbolically merge into unified learning spaces – reflects the school’s role as a cultural and educational anchor.

The 65-acre site is nestled within a developing residential fabric on the city’s west side. Proximity to key regional corridors also positions the campus for industry partnerships. The most notable partnership is with Phoenix International Raceway, which is visible from the school’s upper floors and directly supports a signature automotive technology and motorsports program.
