The inaugural Elev8 Design Awards by Buildings.com recently recognized our UNC Health Blue Ridge Valdese Cancer Center project with a 2025 Honorable Mention in the Healthcare/Senior Living category.

Celebrating projects that demonstrate the transformative power of design for people and the planet, the Elev8 Design Awards recognize both new construction and renovation efforts. In their review, the jury noted: “This complex Cancer Center Addition and Renovation does consider biophilia, healing, and access to views with the center garden. Due to the nature of this market sector and complex systems, it demands function, accessibility, and the integration of technology, often with innovative approaches.”

Our design reimagines a previously fragmented space, creating a cohesive, patient-centered facility that supports both treatment and healing. By consolidating services and expanding capacity for infusion and radiation oncology, the project streamlines care delivery while elevating the patient experience.
