Career Technical Education encompasses a large variety of hands-on learning spaces. This session will explore the importance of understanding the similarities and differences between various CTE pathways that are key to maximizing the value of your space and designing for authenticity. Benjamin and Arlenne will discuss two case studies that highlight the importance of authentic learning environments, whether in a K-12, higher education, or hybrid campus model, regardless of geographic location. They will share the top five lessons learned from their practice to successfully create varied learning spaces that balance design rigidity and flexibility, such building construction, automotive, health sciences, or human services.

Learning objectives include:

• Understanding & prioritizing needs vs. wants of end-users for each career pathway
• How to identify common ground, shared goals, and optimized spaces between different career pathways
• How to leverage connections with industry partners to ensure program success
• How to create scalable/adaptable spaces that will serve current students and attract future ones
• Key building considerations for successful CTE learning spaces
