DLR Group to Present on Libraries as Social Infrastructure
Join our team at the upcoming Designing Libraries XI Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina. Principal and Interiors Leader Gretchen Holy, IIDA, and Senior Associate and Architect Cory Clippinger, AIA, will present a session titled “Libraries as Social Infrastructure: Community Building and Student Success.”
Libraries play an essential role in providing social infrastructure to their communities through services, spaces, and programs that build a sense of belonging, intellectual vitality, and connection. This session will explore several ways that transformed libraries and community spaces advance student and resident persistence, drive success, and promote wellness.
Gretchen and Cory will be accompanied by Amber Shaverdi Huston, Executive Director at the National Association for Campus Activities, and Alex Valencia, Student Success Librarian at NC State University Libraries. The session will be moderated by Greg Raschke, Director of Libraries at NC State University. These presenters, with backgrounds in student services, architecture, and academic libraries, will present a combination of large-scale research findings and experience-based practices that enhance the role the library plays in providing social infrastructure.
The session will be held on the third day of the conference, Tuesday, October 29 from 11 AM – 12 PM.
