Planning and Implementing Outdoor Spaces for Health, Learning and Play: Focusing on High School
As districts across the country consider taking learning outside in response to COVID-19, they need help rethinking the physical landscape. These sessions will be useful to facilities directors, school administrators, and educators to envision and implement nurturing and inspiring school environments.
On National Outdoor Classrom Day, we’ll welcome Claire Latané, Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly Pomona, to share her research and expertise on designing outdoor environments to promote mental health. Claire recently published, “Schools That Heal: Design with Mental Health in Mind.” As a call to action, her book showcases a holistic approach to create schools that support students’ mental health and feelings of safety.
