DLR Group to Present at 2024 SCUP Pacific Regional Conference
Join our team at the upcoming Society for College and University Planning Pacific Regional Conference in Seattle, Washington.
Principal and Interior Design Leader, Gretchen Holy, IIDA, and Associate and Designer, Eddie Kim will present a session titled “Reimagining the Academic Library on Three Campuses.”
Gretchen and Eddie will be joined by co-presenters Troy Ament, Interim Vice President of Administration at Chaffey College, Alicia Salaz, Vice Provost and University Librarian at the University of Oregon, and Katherine Terpis, Associate Dean at New Mexico State University – Main Campus.
Libraries are a vital resource for everyone on campus, making outdated library facilities prime targets for renewal. In this session, representatives from R1, land grant, and community college institutions will discuss their unique approaches to reinventing of these academic hubs. Institutions are making sweeping changes to academic libraries to modernize existing facilities, address current community needs, and strengthen the identity of the campus. This session will explore vital improvements to infrastructure, technology, and biophilia to support core and special collections and create vibrant, welcoming knowledge exchange platforms.
Learning objectives include:
- Describe planning strategies for future academic library projects.
- Promote the evolving role of the campus library and make the case for investing in library programs, services and facilities on your campus.
- Consider your library project priorities in the face of planning challenges.
- Identify ways institutions can test potential partnerships for future library projects.
Gretchen and Eddie’s session will be on the first day of the conference, Monday, March 18 from 2:20 – 3:20 PM.
