Construction Begins on 30-Story Hilton Dual Brand Hotel in Austin

(Austin, Texas, Sept. 15, 2026) – A new 30-story dual-branded Embassy Suites and Tempo by Hilton broke ground in downtown Austin, Texas, on September 14, 2026, with global design firm DLR Group serving as architect and interior designer. The tower will hold 480 rooms and be crowned by a rooftop bar and lounge with sweeping views of the city’s growing skyline.

“Designing two distinct hotel brands inside a single tower means solving for two guest journeys while sharing key amenities between them, all in a building that still reads as one tower. That’s the challenge we signed up for, and breaking ground means we get to start proving it out,” Wilms said.

The building embodies Austin’s musical identity through a carefully composed interplay of rhythm, movement, and contrast. Across the tower, glass and metal establish a controlled cadence through the repetition of vertical aluminum fins, slender metal panels, and stainless steel terrace alcoves that draw the eye upward. Inside, each brand will strike its own chord – distinct in mood, material, and rhythm – with the full composition to be revealed as the hotel nears completion.

Expected to open in early 2029, key program spaces include a podium level restaurant, rooftop restaurant and bar with covered outdoor terrace, a ballroom/conference center with pre-function area, private meeting rooms that connect to the 28th floor outdoor terrace, a fitness center overlooking the 28th floor terrace.

DLR Group is providing architecture and interior design services on the project. Peachtree Group and Merritt Development Group are co-developing the project.
