Nationally recognized for planning and design of justice and government projects, her portfolio of work has resulted in over 5.25 million total square feet of space and over $1.7 billion of construction value in justice and civic projects.

“She is a strong advocate and ambassador for DLR Group, championing justice architecture that leads to healing, equity, and transformation of individuals and communities,” said DLR Group Senior Principal Darrell Stelling, AIA, who leads the firm’s global Justice+Civic studios.

The AIA fellowship program is developed to elevate architects who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession, and made a significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level. Prospective candidates must have at least 10 years of AIA membership and demonstrated influence by promoting the aesthetic, scientific, and practical efficiency of the profession; promoting the science and art of planning and building by advancing the standards of architectural education, training or practice; coordinating the building industry and profession of architecture through leadership in the AIA or other related organization; or advancing the living standards of people through improved environments.

Loynd joined DLR Group in 2000, practicing from the Seattle location. She has successfully led the design and planning for projects including the award-winning Skagit County Community Justice Center in Mount Vernon, Washington; the Oregon Youth Authority MacLaren Youth Campus in Woodburn, Oregon; and the City of Tukwila Justice Center in Tukwila, Washington. “We’re fortunate to have Erica as part of the firm. Her commitment to mentoring the next generation of architects is unmatched,” said DLR Group Senior Principal Scott Kruse, AIA, who manages operations in the Pacific Northwest.
