Design for Identity: Six Habits of Culturally Competent Designers

Jessica will open the keynote session with six habits designers can use to integrate cultural competence at every stage of their work. Attendees will learn practical strategies to move beyond statements and statistics, embedding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into the design process. As society’s demographics and dynamics shift, these habits guide designers to connect with diverse communities and deliver positive outcomes for people historically excluded.

The Silicon Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Architects is hosting AI.26 which brings together experts in design, architecture, sustainability, and industry allied fields advancing innovation, creativity, and a better-built environment for all.
