DLR Group and West-MEC Celebrate Southeast Campus Ribbon Cutting and Groundbreaking Milestones

(Glendale, Ariz., Aug. 3, 2026) – Western Maricopa Education Center, in partnership with DLR Group and CHASSE Building Team, celebrated a major milestone as it cut the ribbon on Phase I of its new Southeast Campus and broke ground on Phase II of the project, located on the Loop 101 corridor. District leaders, students, and community partners gathered on July 21 to mark the occasion and highlight West-MEC’s commitment to preparing students for high-demand, high-paying careers. As Phase I welcomes its first cohort of students this fall, Phase II is scheduled to open fall 2027.

The Southeast Campus occupies a 30-acre site in one of the fastest-growing economic hubs in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The design leverages more than 1,000 feet of highway frontage to showcase student achievement and connect education to the region’s workforce needs.

The 250,000-SF campus marks the fourth collaboration between West-MEC and DLR Group. Phase I launches career and technical education programs in health care, information technology, and advanced manufacturing, including medical assisting, physical therapy, cybersecurity, coding, and welding. Phase II adds 80,000 SF and builds on those offerings by introducing advanced health science and public safety programs, along with new pathways in construction trades, energy systems, culinary arts, supply chain, and hospitality, positioning the campus as a comprehensive workforce training hub.

A central commons anchors the campus and creates a hub for interdisciplinary learning, while community and workforce event spaces support partnerships with local employers. As West-MEC’s fifth location, the Southeast Campus expands access to career training and strengthens the connection between education, industry, and economic growth in the region.
